Our Constitutions

The Constitutions of the Congregation of Holy Cross are the guiding principles and spiritual understanding of our community of priests and brothers. They put into words that which is most important to Holy Cross—our mission and ministry in Christ’s Church, our life of prayer, our vows to God, our community and brotherhood, and that which makes us distinctively ‘Holy Cross.’

Widely read and discussed throughout our community, these Constitutions are presented to first-year candidates in our formation program and studied intensely during the novitiate year. To know them is to know part of who we are and who we strive to be as a community.

Our Constitutions are, at once, both ethereal and concrete, both idealistic and practical, both poetry and prose. They present a vision of the Congregation of Holy Cross that we find compelling and inspiring as we seek to serve Jesus Christ and his Church as educators in faith.
